Hey all,
as far as i know, repel currently acts as a turn-off switch for wild encounters.
There's nothing wrong with this, but in the games, repel has a secondary effect
that really makes it highly desirable to pro trainers and i really feel this should be
implemented if not already.
The basic repel behaviour works like this:
-repels wild pokemon for a specified number of steps
BUT, it also has a second behaviour:
-it repels pokemon of A LOWER LEVEL THAN THE FIRST MEMBER IN A PARTY
This is important because it allows(with proper planning) to weed out the weaker wild pokemon
and find the strongest in an area!
here's an example:
Route: 937495
Pokemon in route:
- rattata (lvl 12-13)
- poliwag(lvl 12-14)
- ditto (lvl 11- 13)
- spearow(lvl 12)
- MOTHA EFFIN MILTANK (lvl 15-16)
first member in party: EFFIN GASTLY MOFO's (lvl 15)
basically if you were to use a repel, the only encounters you would receive are miltanks!
this is great for both catching and for training!
i really think repel needs to work like this if it hasn't already been implemented
