I also noticed that when your rival is staring in the window, he is also invisible but that might just be my computer.

Also with the new diagonal movement you can walk through parts you could not walk through before. Take the following scenario:
[ ][x]
[x][ ]
and assume you're on the top-left square, you can now walk to the bottom-right square with the new diagonal movements
If you want to disable diagonal walking in your 0.15 save you can do so by editing your Player.dat file. Make sure to backup your Save directory first though.
Anyway the file can be found in Pokemon\Save\{yourname}\Player.dat and can be edited with notepad or another text editor. To disable diagonal movement change the 1 in the line that says "DiagonalMovement|1" to a 0 or if that line doesn't exist add a new line saying: "DiagonalMovement|0" without the quotes obviously.

There were also 3 other options that were added to new saves. Is there going to be any easy way to update your save to newer versions? Is there ever going to be a problem with updating save games or can this be done automatically?

Edit: The missing options are added when the game is saved again after updating. So maybe the first thing to do after updating is load and save (possibly restart the game). This would also fix problems like the game crashing because the last rest position isn't defined. Maybe at some point this could be automatically done by the updater. Maybe the save file should include the version of the game when it was saved, so that the updater knows which options to add and what to set them to.

The diagonal movement is not planned for this update. Your 0.15 save state automatically turns this on, you are not able to turn it on/off in 0.16 and it is disabled from the beginning.
If you blackout before you reach the first pokemon center the game crashes.
I think this happens because you have a save created in 0.15.
Ah, that explains it. The diagonal movement is a great addition. It may require some map tweaks further down the time to prevent abuse though.

I assume that somewhere it would enable you to skip a trainer battle as well. It has big implications for mapping but for the most part it should fit into the existing maps just fine. I was really starting to appreciate it when I went through grass fields, lets you cut corners. These sort of paths of least resistance exist in the gameboy game but it opens up more options for mappers to create these paths.

Tried to enter any house in Violet city or the tower and got an error. It moved me to the spot inside the door and I could turn and go back just fine.

Going to third-person. http://i1038.photobucket.com/albums/a470/Photo_Gamer5/Pokemon/error2.png
A quick look at the map shows that the warp blocks aren't actually linked to go anywhere, probably because the maps for those houses aren't made yet. This is just missing content.
