They'll be implemented, well, Pikachu is implemented but there is no catch area yet as we aren't THAT far into the game.
Bulbasaur is uncatchable, if you want it you need to cheat the Pokémon into the game.
I've thought about suggesting to implement a time, date and a certain area to catch these old starters. Like a once in a week quest to a cerain area (Which changes each week.) where you will have a x% of chance to find the Pokémon. It sounds like it could work. Maybe something like the way you catch Lapras.
In the original game you can catch 1 lvl 40 Lapras in the Union cave every Friday. Only 1 Lapras will appear, so if you ''kill'' the lapras you'll have to wait a week. But to catch the starters will be a little harder, like a lower % to find him, hard to catch, because they are RARE Pokémon after-all. :D
That sounds really good.
Implement this please
I have no clue how to make this or how to make this work, just thought it might be a cool thing to do. So you'll still be able to get the first starters. ^^ Ofcourse, before something like this will be implemented, we need a full game, etc. And finding someone who knows how to do this stuff won't be that easy, unless someone on here volunteers.

the ability codes are listed on the wiki :)
it is in the pokemon mechanics section on the main page(still working on this page so...)
could you copy paste the line of code for the wild pokemon here?
I will look at it in the morning if you do :)

You only get beldum for your starter
however almost every other pokemon can be caught in the wild already and the rest should be added in soon(this is what i was meaning)

IF, big emphasis on the if, special events or such that involved a small chance at catching a rare pokemon that isn't part of the orignal game map were implemented, i really believe this would be a great place to incorporate an island system.

-it wouldn't break the structure of the original game map
-it would allow unlimited custom adventures
-only need one ferry to access all islands

a fancy name like starter island or something, where every once in a while theres a one time chance to capture a random(or specified) starter within a limited timeframe. of course this would be quite tedious with coding and such. but i think if we do a daily system it might not be so hard.

this is all for future ventures of course

I don't really see the reason with making it super difficult to capture starters. DS games have WiFi.

Pick a single location and give a 5% chance of the designated starter appearing, make them a 2,100 coin game corner prize, or something simple like that. Don't make it a ridiculously rare event requiring several different variables to be just right.

It was just a suggestion... I just thought that because they are actually rare Pokémon and because they are starters, they should be reasonably hard to get. (Not sure if targeted to me, but I did suggest something kind of 'hard'.)

snoe I like that suggestion. :D

They aren't rare pokemon. The Professors hand them out like candy to new trainers (remember, the game world is not to scale), but force you to pick one and refuse to let you have any more in order to force you to trade with other players.

Pokemon Yellow allowed you to gain all three of the Kanto starters through easy sidequests, which I think should set the standard for this kind of thing.

Actually they are rare(the professors say that often). They are extremely powerful compared to most of the pokemon you will face until the E4 and are just generally more powerful.

I personally loved pokemon yellow so doing this hurts a little:

-getting all the starters is cheap
-they are automatically considered superior within their type so players arent willing to explore more options
-the first gen starters were single types(except bulbasaur but no one loves him anyways) and this robbed you of favoring a double type (such as cloyster or kabutops, and moltres) which give you more adaptability to more opponents
-starters require more focus and attention and that is time consuming they were meant to be one per person
-it's boring having all starters, that's not what pokemon is about

-pikachu and mudkipz are best starters end of story

and thats how the poffin crumbles

In Pokemon Shiny Gold, you can get the Kanto and Hoenn starters, but it's either difficult or you have to wait a while before you can get them.

Special Effects:
1. Howto get Treeko @ Lv.1 without Trading!
Okay, to get a Treeko go to Goldenrod City. Next go over to the National Park . When you see an opened fence with a man/boy go into it. Go East until you find a weird looking path of trees head it it. You will see a nice young girl. Talk to her and she'll tell you about that she has an injured Treeko then you can battle her. Win to get a Lv. 1 Treeko
2. Howto get a Lv. 1 Mudkip
Go to Union Cave and run and run until you find a Lv. Mudkip. Warning: It has a Legendary Pokemon Catch Rate
3. Howto get a Lv. 1 Torchic (You must beat the Pokemon League Champion and Carlos for this one)
This one is like a combination of getting Mudkip and Treeko. So go to Lavender Town. Head South until you find another strange path of trees. Then head into the cave. Hangout awhile until you find a Torchic at Lv. 1 (just like catching the Mudkip)
Howto get Lv. Charmander
Go to Goldenrod City. Go to the game corner and talk to the lady on the complete right. She will Pokemon as prizes.
Collect 2,100 Casino Coins and she will give you a Charmander

but not just starters, they're a whole bunch of other good pokemon that you never encouter. just because a pokemon is rare shouldn't mean they don't exist. i think we should remove the trade/evole thing all together.
