alright so quick question, because you are forced to choose a starter, are you allowed to use them among the other pokemon that you catch? For example lets say I choose cyndaquil, and the first pokemon i see is pidgey. Am I allowed to use cyndaquil along with my posse of pidgeys or do I have to store him and only use pidgeys?

all pokemon are used and all pokemon apply to the challenge.

this means:
- if your starter faints you release him/her
- if a pokemon faints and is released you cannot go back to where you originally found it and catch it or any other pokemon again
- you only get one chance per area to catch a pokemon, if it faints then thats it, if you run out of balls, thats it
- if a pokemon you own is poisoned and faints before being healed, it is released
- you are allowed to store pokemon in pc's and can swap out if necessary( this is why it is critical to always catch the first pokemon in each area so that you have a backup supply)
- IMPORTANT: unless a legendary pokemon is the ONLY pokemon in the area, you must defeat it, no catching, no exceptions. (pokemon like ho-oh, lugia, and mewtwo, the only way you will be allowed to catch them are if you have tons of max repels and do not encounter a SINGLE pokemon along the way)

Ah ok, I missed the bit where you can catch only one pokemon per area, I thought it was one type of pokemon all together. So by area, do you mean a patch of grass is one area, or all of Route 35 being considered one area?

all of route 35
some people allow for multiples
if you have already done rattata in route 29 and the first pokemon in route 30 is a rattata you can ignore it

all of route 35,
basically if theres a notification on the top left corner telling you the name of a new route, cave, town, etc.
you have one chance for one new pokemon.

basically every named area in the map counts essentially as one pokemon

alright cool, thanks. that sounds more fun than having tons and tons of pidgeys. though the thought of having tons of pidgeys is a little entertaining.

I don't see anyone passing by that miltank, so I guess that this is mission impossible.
