Pokemon yellow was SOOO hard in the beginning cuz pikachu was useless against Brock's rock gym. If it wasn't for Butterfree i would never had made it.
But it seems like since Gen 3 the pokemon games have gotten super easy. Is it just me?

Yellow was sort of an anomaly. The only weird things that stuck out to me was needing to train up Butterfree or Mankey for Brock, and Koga's weird difficulty curve of having a level 50 Venomoth. Other then that, it was just the same old thing. So I wouldn't really say they've gotten easier, though I didn't really bother with Gen 4+.

definitely, gamefreak needs to expand if it wants to keep old fans. I'm too old for a DS, and at some point they're gonna have to stop developing recycled versions of pokemon and integrate the ones they already have.

They're moving away from making remakes. As much as I hate to say this, I agree. It's time to retire the older generations. Gamefreak is building a whole new engine for Pokemon X and Y though. Real 3D-ness. I'm just nervous to see if it's going to have an empty feel to it or if it will be smooth gameplay

i believe you are coming to a point such as i have where pokemon just isn't the same.
its not that we dont love it any less, far from it actually. because i know i would gladly
pick up a Yellow version with pride (yellow is by far my favorite pokemon game second only to the GSC games)

what i loved most about yellow is that it did something no other 'special' version did. (when i say special i refer to the third game in a series such as crystal, emerald, and platinum) it changed the starter, it made a new story around it, and it was awesome as heck.

on top of that yellow eventually handed you all 3 starter pokemon which was kickass. it introduced minigames such as surfing pikachu and was the FIRST game to introduce a pokemon following you.

it, and gen 1 and 2 will always hold a place in my heart as MY pokemon games, the games that i grew up with.

i will admit gen 3 was the last pokemon generation i loved, it held the right balance between new advances in pokemon, and old features i loved.

gen 3 did not have too many fancy gimmicks in the game such as seasons and pokeatholon or whatever.

also it had mudkipz and I EFFIN LIEK MUDKIPZ

anyways,

gamefreak is business first product second, but in the best way possible(maybe).

we're no longer kids, but there are a new generation of kids that need a new generation of pokemon
and in this time and age, simplicity is outcompeted with bells and whistles to make everything super exciting.

it just how it is. and the world changes, so too does pokemon

sadly, i must agree but fortunately i think this is the reason for which pokemon3d exists and continues to grow.

I always wonder why Generation III games didn't have the Day/ Night System and a few other features found in Generation II games. o_O

(No Day/ Night system, No Radio, No Legendary Tracker, No Apricots, and (MOST ANNOYINGLY!!!) You can't Migrate pokemon from Gen II to Gen III leaving the only pokemon gap their is :/.

Trade Gen 1 - Time Machine Trade-> Gen 2 X Gen 3 - Migrate-> Gen 4 -Migrate-> Gen 5

We live in a generation where people have little patience for thinking or any challenge. Im sure when we were all growing up we all had some trouble at these games and we worked hard to over come them; and thats the message of pokemon isnt it? over coming obstacles that was originally thought impossible?
Unfortunately we live in a dumbed down generation where all people have to do to sell something is make it flashy and simple.

Pokemon is an amazing franchise, and it will continue to be one. The stories and friendships are never forgotten and thats why things like Pokemon3D are around. Because of a loving fanbase basking in nostalgia and experiencing the new generation together: as the older and original generation.

gen II was always a special generation that did a lot of things and blew a lot of expectations of these GameBoy Color games out of the water.

GenII is the only game that used apricots, or for that matter a way to create balls, it had a pokegear which combined the later implemented Vs. Seeker, with the luxary of a phone and radio. the pokegear was a bit more realistic than the Vs. Seeker in my opinion

all in all GSC are special games in my heart

i will say this about yellow that really made it stand out the most compared to any other pokemon game.

you started with pikachu, always no exceptions, and your first gym is immune to you. Pokemon Yellow is the only game ever where you literally start with the whole world against you. That first gym battle really defined players as true trainers.

That first badge wasnt proof that you made it, it was proof that you understood what it took to get there.

Pokemon yellow made you think about your actions and your party just slightly more intently because you had to think. which was great.

no other pokemon game has had that effect.

I think if you want to maintain that level of difficulty from the start regardless of starter, make the first gym Dragon Type :D

That would be cool, but since gen III the have been giving the starters extra types to balance them. Maybe they should do it like racing games: give you some money in the beginning and you buy a "cheap" pokemon until u can afford more expensive ones.
SPeaking of which, is the casino implemented yet? i need to get my Dratini
