So I have a question. When an update is out, does that directly affect and change our current save?

Or do we need to start a whole new game for our save to have the most recent features. I noticed with the switch from 0.26.1 to 0.27 that when the ability placeholder was put into effect. It did not affect my old save.

It was not until I started a new game altogether that the changes took place.

I had just recently started, so the process of a new game was tits compared to someone who probably already had 2 badges and had to start over.

I'm pretty sure the fact that you can effectively have multiple saves maybe will allow us in the future to incorporate some complex way to trade pokemon between ourselves or something

Idk, but it's definitely something that has raised questions for me on the livelihood of my current save. Any enlightenment on this matter would greatly be welcome

When you update, the new features do affect your old/current save. However, for the Pokemon you've already had prior to patch 0.27, you have to add their ability placeholders through Poke3D Folder > Pokemon > Save > Your Save file name (Example: Red) > Party

Open up the Party.dat in Notepad, and you'll see your party's code. Go over and find where it says "Ability". That's where you'll put the ID of your Pokemon's ability. Wild Pokemon since the patch will have the proper placeholder abilities added, but Pokemon you've had prior, you have to add yourself.

Here's a list of Ability IDs: http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Ability
