why is my pokemon3d game so slow

when i am playing pokemon3d when i go to certain cities and also certain routes it goes laggy and i press forward once and goes forward twice it takes forever but when i'm in the gyms it doesn't lag why is that?

I think the game is slow in certain areas because there are many things "happening" in that area. For example, Goldenrod City is a big map with lots of npc and a huge market and it's slower than usual. In Ilex forest only 1 npc and a big map but not much lag is happening.

I suggest you put the render distance on short and graphics on fast to make things easier for you
