Ways to make it run smoother

I think it would be a good idea to start thinking about them since there has been recently quite a bit threads about some areas working more well thasan others. It is also understandable that larger areas takes more to run. In my oppinion the difference shouldn't be that huge if it were just about the size of the area. I think that currently the least well performing areas are Golden Rod city and the (Mega?) market, Ilex forest, Violet City and Route 32. So, what could there be to do? I came up with these:
  • If i'm not mistaken, a grayscale graphics pack could run smoother (not sure if there is one).
  • Dividing some of the areas into smaller connected maps. There does not have to be a line seen where the map changes. Atleast not that I know of...
  • Some animations could still be turned off if the player wishes to. Those would be things like spining pokecenter signs (and market signs? if there is any, can't remember), weather, smoothly changing light levels (just cut into one for each time of the day - day, evening, night...), needlesly spining NPCs (ofc. those who are looking for battle should be looking around. atleast till one beats em).
  • There isn't alot of it as far as I'm aware, but it should definately be possible to turn off the transparencys and reflections.
I will be back if and when I come up with new ideas. Your turn guys. Go for it with some good ideas.

The guy talking is running it on this log:
Windows XP Home
Processor AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2600+, MMX, 3DNow, ~1.9GHz
Memory 2048MB
DirectX 9.0c
Video card NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT (memory 512MB)
Info taken directly from DirectX diagnostic tool (anyone wishing to check corresponding specs try "run" and type in "dxdiag").

For comparsion:
Daycare 60 FPS.
Route 34 20-30 FPS. still seems smooth.
Golden Rod constantly 0 FPS.
Ilex Forest 0 FPS.
Route 35 60 FPS.
Azalea city 30-60 FPS.

you also need to take consideration of the Offset. the Offset also creates more Memory Usage even when either Turned Off or taken off manually in their Maps.dat files.

however, back in Version 0.21, everything were fast and easy to navigate. then version 22 came and it went VERY laggy, then on Version 0.25 and to this current Version, the Memory Usage has been toned down quite alot even though there is alot of lag in still. so overtime the game's Memory Usage would be toned down just like how it was in Version 0.21.
