Snip!
i can't guarantee that everyone has common sense.

GameFreak had the right idea with the single Move Deleter in Blackthorn
I agree that not everyone will have the common sense to go take Surf out of storage and reteach it to their team. The GameFreak location is totally there to save users from themselves.

That said, if we were going to make a modification putting the Move Deleters in PokeCenters/Marts would be the easiest way to not completely break the game logic. It's a convenience thing for me, so I'm pretty ambivalent. Frankly, I think just getting everything up and running is more important / interesting than trying to go back and second guess design decisions at this point.

Maybe you could just put an NPC in the PokeMart or PokeCenter to do this? If the PC was three steps away from where you were standing when you deleted the move you could just go take out the HM and make this a non-issue.

I generally favor staying true to the source material, but this seems like a pretty small adjustment. No changes in the field, but freedom to change in any town instead of just in one way later in the game.
This doesn't solve the gamebreaking problem, the reason Blackthorn has an HM Deleter is because you do not need an HM to escape from the town. If you try this pokecenter NPC idea. you'll still have people wondering why they can't surf out of Cianwood.

sure, you can just say "well then reteach it to them duh" as hope as i am that most people will have the common sense to do that, i can't guarantee that everyone has common sense.

GameFreak had the right idea with the single Move Deleter in Blackthorn
then just dont put one in cainwood
the rest should be fine
besides cainwood has access to the PC
its more like they dont want people in the whirl islands deleting surf or whirlpool and getting stuck
however in gen 4? they removed the item storage in the PC because the bags hold infinite items now
so there is no real reason to make the hms unforgetable in my opinion because you will always have the hm and(unless your editing files) will always have a pokemon who can learn the move available

The best thing about this being a pokemon game is that the core concepts of the game are established by a major company GameFreak and are reliable and true for all games, thats why trying to change gameplay beyond their normal design is EXTREMELY risky, because think about it. If GameFreak did something a certain way, it's because it's probably the best way to do so

gamefreak has actually left some unessasary things in the game that were necessary in older versions
the best example it the non forgetable hms
i really want them to remove that feature because cut is an anoying !@$@#!#$!
especialy since tms are now permanent we dont need them to be something different any more :/
just tell people when they get the tm that it is special
after that its all cool

Given the current state of Pokemon 3D's development, I maintain that the focus should be on implementation. Nilllzz can solicit feed back on what needs changing after the world has been built.

I mean in the actual games by gamefreak
starting gen 5 tms dont break
well that's poopoo, get Hyperbeam, teach all pokemon(evolved) kill everything.

meh, thats why i played up to gen 4
I feel like this is a nod to the competitive scene. Not having to farm TMs, or trade for them, is hugely convenient to people who train and retrain teams for battling other players. Also, it encourages people who only play solo to actually use the blessed things. I can't count how many TMs I saved over multiple generations because they were one-use and I'd never get another one.

they made it so that tms are hard to find
when you find one you can then use it from then on
and hyperbeam was always buy able in the other games so you could get unlimited ones anyway

Problem is, that if you are at places like a random island, where you can only escape when you have surf, you could just removed the surf move and you would get stuck there forever.
you can just re learn it
that depends one a couple conditions:
- the player has common sense
- you aren't in the middle of surfing
- you haven't stored your HM in the pc

I think the best example as to why HM's shouldnt be forgotten is Flash.

You use flash in a cave, head into it and get deep inside with a good amount of walking needed to get to an exit.
LOL EFF FLASH I WANNA TEACH PIKACHU THUNDERBUTT LOL

the floor you're on is still currently lit because of previous flash, exit is on another floor, go up floor, OH GOD I CANT SEE.

-no escape ropes
-no teleport or dig
-pikachu is only pokemon that can learn flash
-you forget that flash is reteachable or it's in the pc(if implemented)

WTF IM SO RAGING NILLZZ MADE CRAP GAME FIX THIS CRAP I CANT PLAY WORST GAME EVER NEVER PLAYING AGAIN *rage quits*

dont. make. HM's. forgettable.

^ True story.
And even if you can relearn stuff, some people aren't THAT smart but still playing Pokémon. They won't figure out but ragequit the game. That's also why Gamefreak did this. Also, there definitely will be a move deleter in Blackthorn.

also keep in mind that GameFreak has to build a game made for everyone and most ages, including kids 7 and up.

making HM's not forgettable allows younger kids, who might not understand all the mechanics of the game, to have a 1oo% failsafe from gamebreaking situations.
