Rejected Forgettable HMs?

Although this feature wasn't implemented into the original Pokemon games, i believe that many people will agree that it should be implemented into Pokemon 3D. It should be possible to forget HM attacks because it will make the game much easier and a lot more fun! Even if it were only possible to forget them in difficulty 0, i still think that players should have the option to forget HM moves along with TMs.

Problem is, that if you are at places like a random island, where you can only escape when you have surf, you could just removed the surf move and you would get stuck there forever.

maybe temporarily make them forgettable until you have the move deleter in
that way we don't have to edit files to get rid of it but if need be we can edit our selves out if stuck(plus we will still have the HM to re use if we get stuck)

If you already have the HM (which is necessary to get to this island) you will be able to learn it again - as far as I remember HMs aren't used and could not be destroyed...

in BlackThorn town there is a move deleter, there you could delete the HM, wait 2 or 3 more months

yeah... i really think that forgettable hms would really be helpful and there wouldn't be any problems with it because even if you are stuck on an island, then you can re-teach it to a pokemon!

Forgettable HM's would be nice, but it should be forgotten at a npc, in a town after you beat a specific gym leader he will spawn, or something in that manner.

there is such a character in the main games who appears near the eigth gym.
many people are complaining right now because there won't be an official way to remove those moves until then :/

Theoretically though, you can put HMs in your PC (if we assume that the player's PC is implemented), and then the issue will arise.

I'm with the idea of making them forgettable until blackthorn. Although, I suppose you could always just change the .dat files if it's super important.

The purpose of the HM mechanics was to prevent game-breaking situations.

If the original game allowed you to simply delete HM's well crap now you're stuck on an island with no way to get home.

This is increasingly vital when you're actually surfing. LOL IDK HOW TO SURF NOW YOU DROWN.

The game developers did not want customers coming in saying that they have to start over because they forgot an HM.

The solution to this was MOVE DELETER (and in the version of Gold and Silver I believe he is located in BlackThorn City) which was a simple Idea:

give players a place to delete HM's with no possible way to break the game. As i recall Blackthorn City does not require an HM to exit from it, as opposed to CianWood City which is only accessible by surf and fly.

given the fact that Pokemon 3D does have modifiable files, Game Breaking is harder to do.

Keep in mind however that not everyone can successfully navigate their computers files and properly changing values within .dat files, without causing their computers to burst in flames.

So don't make HM's deletable, or else you'll see threads of people wondering why the heck they're stuck in Cianwood.

Maybe you could just put an NPC in the PokeMart or PokeCenter to do this? If the PC was three steps away from where you were standing when you deleted the move you could just go take out the HM and make this a non-issue.

I generally favor staying true to the source material, but this seems like a pretty small adjustment. No changes in the field, but freedom to change in any town instead of just in one way later in the game.

This doesn't solve the gamebreaking problem, the reason Blackthorn has an HM Deleter is because you do not need an HM to escape from the town. If you try this pokecenter NPC idea. you'll still have people wondering why they can't surf out of Cianwood.

sure, you can just say "well then reteach it to them duh" as hope as i am that most people will have the common sense to do that, i can't guarantee that everyone has common sense.

GameFreak had the right idea with the single Move Deleter in Blackthorn
