...can't get to the next city

What do you do to get passed the ruins of alph? There isn't a way to the next city?

Maybe not. Lol... Am I supposed to take the pier to get there or the ruins of alph. Violet city is as far as I've gotten

Next city can be gotten to via Route 32.
