Pokémon 3D Fire Red & Leaf Green Edition (On Hold)

If you do manage to intergrate it into pokemon3d as the kanto side of gold/silver you could switch it up and have the player start out in pallet town like the original game and move into johto an so on like the story.
Wouldn't that require everyone else to start over and for the levels of the Pokemon in Johto to be adjusted? If the levels aren't adjusted, then after beating the elite four in Kanto you end up facing gym leaders in Johto with Pokemon that are 40 levels below yours. If they are adjusted, people in the process of completing Johto are suddenly significantly lower than all the Pokemon around them and by the time they get to Kanto, they'll be significantly higher than all the other trainers and wild Pokemon around them.

It would require a adjustment to the trainer scripts depending on which region u have completed first.
Wild pokémon levels don't get adjusted.

The problem is that since there is a lvl cap of 100 for pokémon at one point all the trainer battles will be somewhat the same.

The only real solution would have to be that u should start over and get to choose a new starter pokémon and are forced to leave the rest of your pokémon behind in their respective region and are not allowed to access the pokémon box from that region at least not until you beat the elite 4 of the region.

There is no other solution honestly since if u would allow players to bring in pokémon from the other region u could probably face roll every trainer up till the elite 4.

Even if lets say u needed to have a certain badge before pokémon up to lvl ?? will listen to u it will be the same.

I pretty much re-played trough pokémon blue at one point again with 1 lvl 100 charizard by trading back and forth between blue and gold and despite him not listening most of the time that 1 time he does listen he pretty much 1 shot everything.

So it all comes down to one of these options
  • Allow pokémon from another region but rely on the badges of that region to determine if they will listen.
  • Start over completely with a new starter pokémon leave old pokémon behind in the other region.
  • Or scale all the trainers up to have pokémons of lvl 80 - 100 resulting in even more redundant battles.
Keep in mind that these options are for if the existing Johto were to be adjusted.
Re-creating Johto with new events and scripts is a whole other thing (Even then it needs some sort of comprimise).

In a way yes youd have to start over (Ash doesnt get to keep all his pokemon when he goes into a new league) plus I dont know about anyone else thats ever played pokemon but i never had that many high lvls that i actually used, so starting with a new starter at johto and being able to access your high lvls later on into johto from kanto to me wouldnt be that bad of a problem cause it goes with the actual story and how the "world leagues" work. there would finally be a pokemon game that spans all generations at once.

just increasing every johto pokemon by 50-60 lvls would work out fine I think
combining 2 regions can work fine without "reseting" its when you start having more than that it will be an issue

the last 2 options you mentioned i think could work together with the idea, when the player gets to johto have them restart like in the storyline but allow access to their kanto pokemon judging from the pokemons lvl and the players number of badges in johto, scaling pretty much would be making another G/S instead of combining the areas and making it more like the pokemon "world"

I suppose I'd prefer level adjustments. I'm not really sure how that would work once more regions are added in but I could certainly see it working for now. Of course, the decision would still have to be made as to which region is the starting region, but after that I could see level adjustments as a solution.

Notification:

Putting this out there in case u guys were wondering why there haven't been any updates regarding the project:

I am temporary putting the project on hold, at the moment i am working on a 2D floor editor that should make it more easier to set up the floors for the maps as i have found that i waste a lot of time moving around floor tiles getting them perfectly positioned just to merge them later on.

The project is not canceled as i still intend to work on it once the 2d floor editor is in a working condition.

I have no eta on when this will be done as it's a mix of XNA and Winforms code and since XNA is rather new to me i have no clue yet on how to get it all to work :p

If it turns out it's taking too long to get the editor to work i might just stop working on it and pick the mod back up where i left it.

wow, this looks really good! are these maps also going to be used in vanilla pokemon 3d? or are they only for your mod? because i think if nillz were to just use these maps instead of making his own, the game would be able to update a lot faster.

i loved the graphics in fire red and leaf green :3 i think it would be cool if they used this games graphics or the graphics that were used in Zel's pokemon shinygold version were used in the gold and silver pokemon 3d. i really look foreward to this tho :3 just started playing pokemon 3d and i look foreward to this. keep up the good work :p
