Question regarding the files and future updates.

I did a few things with my files like my player file and overworld sprite files. I also edited a few base stat values for certain Pokemon. I copied a Pokemon overworld sprite file and pasted it in the player skin folder and edited my player file to play as that skin. But anyways, the question I have is: If I update Pokemon 3D for a future update, will my edited files be lost or will the update keep any edits I made to the files? And will future updates keep the files open so that players can freely continue to edit some files? I know it seems unfair in a sense but I feel it makes the game more fun in some ways to be able to customize to your liking. Not so fun if you are doing it to speed up progress or god mod but then again, it's the player's choice, and perhaps later on there can be a filter of some kind on multiplayer mode to prevent players from using Pokemon that have modded stats, abilities, moves, etc. Multiplayer would only allow the natural Pokemon data files, but still allow one player gamers to use the altered Pokemon data, and backups of the regular data can be kept to use on multiplayer.

Just to be safe, you should log what changes you made and have backup files.

I do have backups of the regular files and the edited files, but I am worried that a download update will change it to where I have to go through the trouble of copying my backups back into the game folders because a download might undo changes to the regular files, either that or the updates will either have rearranged folders making them harder to find, or locked down so you can no longer edit. In my opinion the game files shouldn't be locked down in updates so players can freely customize, but at the same time, multiplayer would have a filter requiring the original battle files, Pokemon data, etc. This would keep players from being unfair against other players. So in order to play multiplayer, players should have backups of the original and edits and temporarily replace the edited Pokemon data files with the original data. This would also require the party data to have original moves and abilities for Pokemon and backups can be made of them for future use on single player.

oh well, due to the way the game is designed it is impossible to keep the changes you have made without manually backup your edits.

For servers, official server do not have checksum for such stuff. Unlike the only server p3d.aggressivegaming.org hosted with a custom server, it disallow PvP with cheated pokemon.
