Is there a reason why the Launcher download is zipped?

Over the past month, 3 people have complained in IRC (I know, 3 people is a lot isn't it) that they have to keep downloading the files and the solution was that they were running the launcher from the zip file instead of unzipping it.

I know to most people that unzipping the zip file would be natural but there are some people out there that have no idea about it.

Now the question is, why is the launcher zipped up when the launcher file is small and zipping it would not compress it much further? Is it software limitation or?

When downloading a unidentified exe-file the AV might delete the file automatically. That's why I have zip'd it.

perhaps it can be offered as an exe with a second link to it in zip form if they have trouble downloading the exe
