I'm not sure if this is the place to ask, but is it possible to still play the game without the Game Jolt client installed? I find it easier to reach the files and change the resource packs and whatnot without it.

Yes, you can.
Download the game from here: http://gamejolt.com/games/pokemon3d/10545
And then unzip the .zip file and run the exe.
The client does the same thing basically.
To find the location where it unzips the files to, click your profile on the top right, select Settings, and look for the folder path.

i desperately want to modify my game again but when i try and run my pokemon3d launcher it says " The Kolben Games launcher for Pokemon3d is obsolete now! You can download and install through Gamejolt (http://www.gamjolt.com/) and run the executable. to enable automatic updates, you can intall the gamejolt client (http://www.gamjolt.com/client) and intsall pokemon3d there. Do you want to open the link to download the gamejolt client now?"

i would like to know as well i have the gamejolt client i found the folder but dont know where to put the content packs
