Is it possible to get charmander as the starter pokemon ?

Not to choose it, but you could add it by adding this to your Party in Pokemon/Save/[playername]/party

By doing this you will have a Charmander with only 6 HP? Don't you mean 17,17,6,7,6,6,6?'
And you should also have at least 100 exp to balance it with the level.

I added that code in the party.dat but how can i play now with charmander... when i start the game there are my old pokemons.. and no charmander

also currently you can edit the starter scripts
the files are in /pokemon/scripts/
and are named charmander.dat, squirtle.dat, and bulbasaur.dat
you would need to change a number in two lines of code:

@ViewPokemonImage:155,0,1
 
@Action:GetPokemon(155,5,As a gift from Prof. Elm,5,at New Bark Town)

those are lines 17 and 26 respectively(from the charmander.dat file)
just change the 155(152 in bulbasaur.dat, and 158 in squirtle.dat) to the number of the pokemon you want to start with(if charmander: 4)

Make sure to change the

{"DVs"[0,0,0,0,0,0]}

or else you'll end up with a really weak Poke. Since it's going to have ZERO IV on all stats!

Oh and you would have had the option of getting a Charmandar (or the other 2 Kanto starters) if you had started playing the game earlier

change all of the dvs to something 1-31
they are the ivs(might as well make them 31)
