Uhmm.. D: I'm not sure where to post this, but I'm really confused as to how to set up a lan server?? I really want to start one so I can play with my fiancé, I like playing online but sometimes I like playing games with just us when we have time. the problem is I'm totally confused.. I'm hoping someone might be able to answer here or perhaps pm me on how to do it? I don't think setting up a lan should be so hard, but I could be wrong. xwx;

Oh! I have, but I'm probably not reading it right xwx; I've done as it says and it still didn't work? it wouldn't show the server as online each time I tried to follow each step as it was written, that and I'm clueless about ports..;;
can you at least tell which steps have you done? and which ones are you having issues with? your comment is a bit vague.

Maybe http://pokemon3d.net/forum/resources/153/ will do the whole trick. In fact, this doesn't really require any configuration. You just run it twice and vola a server have been launch.
A nice warning will be given in the server if you didn't open your port. You can share the ip shown in the gui to your friends or family to join.

yeah uhm sorry! owo;

so I read through to step 3 and followed the instructions all the way down in order, however when trying to connect to the server I set up (from another computer) it didn't connect nor show the server being up at all. ;w; ?

Oh! this one actually seems a lot easier, the only problem now is that it's saying the port isn't open? but it seems to be running a lot smoother! ^^ so hopefully this one will work, my only question is that do I need to open the port to get the server to work with my friends or family? or just give them the ip and try it out that way?

well, If you are on the same network, can you try setting your local ip adress in the config file and use it to connect to the server on another computer?

Should be something like this:

You do not need to open the port for family :) For friends, if they are not in the same house... yea, it will require you to open the port.

alright guys I'm going to try both methods and see if any of them work ^^

Edit, I got it!! <3 thank you guys so much, I think what confused me was that I thought I had to open up ports and such, but I finally got the server working, thanks! ^^
