Purple Egg?

I have bred an egg with two Liepards, the egg I recieved was purple. I eventually hatched it into an ordinary Purrloin. Are some eggs supposed to resemble the pokemon thats inside the egg or does the colour stand for something else?

Egg color resembles what will hatch from it.

Yeah, I have just beat the game and decided to do a little breeding, the Odd egg and Togepi egg have normal sprites so I didn't notice before.
I was hoping that the weird coloring was some sort of indicator that the pokemon is shiny, too bad it wasn't.

The colour of an egg should be the same colour palette of the Pokemon that will hatch from it.
If you breed a shiny Pokemon, the egg will use the shiny colour palette instead of the normal one.
