Are you using the official server launcher @ The download page?Me and a few friends are trying to do an online nuzlocke game mode. Every time we join the server I'm hosting, it says 'Player with a GameMode "pokemon 3d" tried to join.'
How do we change our game mode online? Is there something special I have to do to the server?
If yes, you have to open the setting file using notepad and insert the gamemode name.
Unofficial server launcher on the other hand have a setting inside @application_setting.json that have predefined gamemode being coded and simply changing to true will allow it to join.

Online save do not allow changing gamemode. They are fixed to default.I have changed the gamemode for the server. If you try to join it, it says that someone with Pokemon 3D gamemode tried to join, then kicks you from the game.

The server works this way (official):
Online save (using gamejolt), you can only play Pokemon 3D gamemode.
Offline save (using New Game/Load Game button), you can play Pokemon 3D gamemode and any other gamemode you set in the server. Each save have their gamemode name. If it doesn't match, it won't let you in.
If you set other gamemode, online save will not be able to play anymore.
However the only way to let online save play with offline save on a different gamemode is to use http://pokemon3d.net/forum/resources/153/
