Fixed [0.23] Pokemon not following

I left the Day Care so that Quilava is not on the map... then saved and relaunched the saved game and Quilava was at the beginning of the map... It is generally walking towards me and follows me correctly if it stands next to me at some point. But when I walk at an angle to it it doesn't stop and walk all the way into Goldenrod...
Can somebody recreate that?
