Is it just me or are Legendaries becoming out of hand?

Do you agree that they've gone to far?

I'm also talking about games like pokemon colosseum and mystery dungeon.
Pokemon black and white 2 didn't introduce new pokemon either.[/quote]

Technically I'm not 100% sure how true that is. And at very least what about the introduction fusing via fusing 2 legendaries into 1 ? Or are you saying new stuff ( Specifically new stuff related to the "Mons" )is acceptable in small doses only or only when somewhat cool?

The remakes always had other Gen than the original.

I can answer this in 1 sweep : Pokemon Colosseum & Mystery Dungeon are Spin-Offs and B/W2 were just like Platinum so not really a new game...
And of course they were in new Gens ,hence the term REMAKE

Apparantly in reading his last few replies and reading between the lines I assume he or she would be happy with ALL The spinoffs in the world and ALL the remakes in the world as long as it has only 253 Pokemon or less

Well the amount of legendaries being released every gen is increasing and it really shouldnt, 1st gen only had 5 including Mew and whats so Legendary about the Pokemon when theres over 20 now and way more to come plus theyre not going to out do Pokemon they call gods like Arceus.
Legendary describes each of them individually yet all of them group. They are "Legendary" cause generally they each:

1: Can only be caught once without cheating or trading or special events ( I don't count starters in this cause a starter is more likely to be traded with/for then a Legendary )

2: In relation to the Above there is generally ONLY 1 of each PER GAME ( I.E. You WONT Find 2 Ho-Oh in G/C/HG )

3: Some are even harder to get not even being a part of ordinary un-modded game play ( Mew & celebi for example )

4: I liken Legendary Pokemon to real life Legends. In the Real world there are prolly dozens if not hundreds of Legends, Myths, and Urban legends around the world. Legendary Pokemon are an in game paradox to that. Hence more and more are bound to be either added into the game or at least become known to the Fanbase.

Creativity is pretty easy for a fresh mind but most designers for Gamefreak are the same since gen 1 so they continue to try new things which is ruining it for hardcore fans, 1 and 2 were mostly designed at the same time hence the similarity in the look but when 3rd gen came they wanted to try new things same with 4th.
Well that could be solved a bit by them bringing fresh faces or new blood onto the team ( *cough* Nillz *cough* some moders and devlopers around here *cough* ) but clearly they don't seem ta wanna do that for whatever reasons. However to be fair based on the X & Y Trailer at least give em some credit. X and Y seem relatively cool, Bring some nice new things to the table, has potential & seems to be making/forcing them to think a little outside of their old box :p

Wow you're really taking this thread seriously, it may be getting out of hand. I hope not. I'm not talking about you, just in general. Please don't be offended.

No offense Taken so no worries I'm just defending my opinion, Hammering in my point and more or less pointing out when it comes to Pokemon or hell any product that ultimately the makers are gonna do what they wanna do and that 1 can Judge & either accept it or 2 choose to complain or ignore.

Anyway I think I'll end it there before the "seriousness" continues or things "get out of hand" more than they seem to be :bookworm:

No I actually do that too. xD And you have a very logical point(It even made me question my belief, the reason I created the thread), I just don't want anyone else to get mad(Because some people do), because it's starting to turn from a debate, to an argument.

Orly? I see.

And thanks I tend to get carried away in making points but I try to make em Logical :p Glad I made you question yourself a bit :p

Yeah made is no fun but some can get carried away * looks at certain persons on other forums* And yeah trying NOT to cross into Argument territory

I like a lot of different pokemon from all gens ( except 5th ) and imo once theres more, then people may finally have some variety with there parties cause at the moment half of them are never ever used except to fill the Pokedex
The legendaries part is opinion based ,as this thread has shown to death. What I want to say is how can you call yourself a hardcore fan and bash the game for character designs? What ever happened to Gameplay over graphics?

Having only 300 pokemon wouldn't make a game automatically good. But ~650 pokemon are too much. In my opinion they should atleast try to keep the number of new pokemon added to the series low. I already struggle to remember some of the 4th gen pokemon. 5th gen is even worse. Don't get me wrong. I really like 4th and 5th gen. Some of the newer pokemon and features are awesome. But I still don't get why gamefreak removes cool features like a pokemon following the trainer or the 2nd rival.
I'm pretty sure they are creative enough to make a great pokemon game without adding new pokemon, but focusing on story and innovative features.

Gen 5 was developed at the same time as the Gen 4 remake so there was no Pokemon following anyway and adding it in the B/W2 version wouldnt work because of that. Also you had much more time to remember the names of the old Pokemon (ever heard of the multi-store memory model)

Another factor is that I watched the anime on tv before I even played the games.

Please Note: Before reading the post be advised GinkgoPete that the majority of this reply despite quoting you is directed at other persons in this thread that said .....

True facts and well said :bookworm: I'll be honest though ( Even if I likely redirect some negative vibes my way to put it mildly ) Even the most Hardcore of Pokefans likely have Trouble remembering ALL 649 ( Now 654 confirmed so far with X and Y ) Pokemon but not purely due to the amount but rather/also as you pointed out Gingko the issue of games coming out TOO CLOSE TOGETHER not that I mind as much as I could given that this is Pokemon. Now if it were like say 3 Digimon games coming out in a 30-40 Month time frame I might have an issue and say screw you to the company ( Don't get me wrong I am a Digimon fan too :p ) whereas something as Pokemon despite STILL Being Mainstream to the EXTREME I'm still a hardcore enough of a fan to say:

NINTENDO Anyway that being said even i I keep buying the games every 6-14 Months doesn't mean thats necessarily going to be enough time to learn every name much less remember every name off by heart. Like Gingko I prefer ta focus on gameplay, storyline, Features/content etc. Don't get me wrong as stated before I definitely don't mid new Pokemon I will concede perhaps Nintendo needs to find a better balance or mix of new content or perhaps pay EXTRA Attention to some things that may need fixed, revamped, improved or added.

I admit I wouldn't mid seeing Pokemon walking behind me return. Hell I'm exceedingly thankful to nillz & the team for adding that into Pokemon 3D.

Would I like to some some things elsewise? Sure in fact here's a list: 1: The return of some old Characters perhaps in a different role or playing more of a role preferably Misty, Brock , Gary ( Blue or whatever he was in games ) , And Red.

2: Some characters the were robbed of some game time like Misty's sisters, That kid whats his name from the B&W Anime with the Zorua,
3: Better scripted story lines or some improvement. For example if ever there is a Gym Like Striaton or Cerulean ( even if this was never reflected in games ) Then I should be able to battle ALL The Gym Leaders of said Gym despite it having "co-gym leaders"

And thos are just some things I wouldn't mind seeing over mass amounts of Pokemon added every game but alas it has become an expected tradition on both sides of the coin so just accept it rather it be The 5 that are confirmed plus their evolutions making 8 or be it 10, 20, 50, 101,150, 200, 255 whatever they add this time

Well the Olympus 'Mons are explicitly stated to be gods, and unique, while some of the other Legends, it's shown that they are more extremely rare and powerful, but not necessarily unique, e.g. the anime shows that there is a breeding population of Lugia, and the Silver Pokedex entry for Entei says "A Pokémon that races across the land. It is said that one is born every time a new volcano appears." - Bulbapedia
So, as long as there's some level of consistency, I mean, think about how many legends and myths we have in the real world. I don't think anybody knows all of them.

@Kooh

I'd personally prefer if things from the Anime were kept to the Anime. The Anime and the Game are two different canons.
