What version are you running?

It is probably because you are at route 34, and the closest pokemon center would be Goldenrod City, but it is not yet implemented, thus you cannot go there. You will simply have to wait for Goldenrod to be completed.

That's not how it works... since the PC in Goldenrod City isn't implemented yet the game won't be able to choose it as destination, the destination is set when healing your Pokemon. We had that bug some time ago with the Pokemon Center in front of Union Cave but I don't know what the problem was and if it's the same now.
