Fixed [Indev 0.53] Trapped in the Vermillion City Gym

Describe the bug you experienced here.
I decided to save to lt.surge just before his door so I could play other games, when a couple weeks later I returned, the door before him turned back on, requiring me to lose to him so I can escape

What I expected to happen:
...The game would let me leave without abusing the system

What actually happened:
...I had to die to surge to escape.

Steps to reproduce:
1. ...Save at surge's gate
2. ...Return to the game
...It's a bizarre glitch.

You could also beat him which would also open the door.

Even considering that, if you stopped to grind or required it (otherwise surge is an impossibility) and you couldn't go out is a massive problem compared to, say, just letting the gate open. It's an awful bug even if beating him resolves it.

I wouldn't call it awful if you could actually work around it on your own, battle him, win and you're out, lose and you're also out.

But what if you saved after the battle (as in stay at that exact spot), forget about it and close the game? How about saving after the trash puzzles (as in not go to surge) and have your progress impeded? It should be patched, even if it's not the most unwinnable glitch out there, it's still obnoxious.

Alright, but it still should be patched if you saved before the doors to surge.

To be fair and honest, I kinda implement something that will allow you to exit the gym if you are stuck inside. So if you exit the gym without getting the badge, you will have to do the puzzle again. Not sure if this will get reverted but nevertheless, this improvement have been done for everybody conveniences.
