You are not required to convert png to xnb if you are doing it for the skin

yes and i wanted to use them in offline mode and when i throw them into the npc folder i have a white box around my guy

i unloaded the zip file into my folder with the formater and it says build failed :/

Use a program or website to make the backgrounds of them transparent.
Should solve your problem.
