Pokemon NOT learning new moves

While browsing the pokemon 3d forums I found out your can add any pokemon you want to your party (editing the .dat file). So I tested it out and added mewtwo to my party; ever since, none of pokemon have learned any new moves....

I leveled a gastly from level 7-14 and it did not learn any news moves.
Also, I tried leveling my totodile a couple levels (without saving) and he did not learn any new moves.

Is there any way to fix this?

-thanks

That does sound strange. If a Pokemon learns a move that is currently not in the game it learns the move tackle instead. So for your gastly not to learn any moves at all (its supposed to learn mean look at lv. 8 and curse at lv 12. accroding to the wiki at least) doesn't make any sense. You sure it did not learn tackle for those moves? If they haven't learned anything at all, remove the code that inserted mewtwo and see if that helps. I doubt it, but its worth a shot

I have encountered this problem as well. I had leveled both a Pidgey and Gastly. Both had already known the move Tackle. If the wiki is correct, Pidgey had failed to learn Whirlwind and Gastly had failed to learn Mean Look and Curse. I am a bit wary to further level any of my Pokemon.

I have a pidgey too and it also failed to learn whirlwind and twister... (wiki says its implemented). My totodile also failed to learn flail.

I reupdated my game and tried leveling my pokemon and so far:

Gastly finally learned a new move (night shade at 15.)

So updating may have fixed the problem..

Adding onto What Level should my Chikorita learn Vine Whip and/or Razor Leaf assuming those are implemented yet? Cause mine has yet to learn either. And if I edit its Party Dat anyone know the move codes?

Yesterday, i discovered that my Pokemon had the same problem; My Pineco had not learned a single move since i got it at lv 10 and its now at lv 24 and were supposed to learn several new moves. I spent some time pondering over what the hell what going on and I think I understand whats happening.

Atm, all moves not yet implemented in the game will be replaced by tackle. However, in the games, (and i assume Pokemon 3d aswell), if you teach a move to a pokemon that it would learn later, it would not learn that move (again) once it reached the required lv, unless you had deleted the move again.

My point is, alot of moves are currently replaced with tackle, but what happens if the pokemon already knows tackle? It will NOT get the chance to learn a new move which is not already in the game because it cannot learn tackle twice.

I support my theory with the fact that both my Quilava, Pidgeotto and Pineco, which were all supposed to learn new moves, haven't learned anything at all and all 3 of them have tackle.

Finally the only one of my Pokemon that has two of the same attacks (tackle) is my Riolu. That makes sence, considering i added the 2 moves (which was actually foresight and something else) manually. But those moves aren't currently implemented. You get what i'm saying?

My post was mostly directed at the OP and others who maybe wasn't aware;) Heck, i didn't know myself until yesterday. About Riolu, no, it isn't officially implemented, which i why i first ended up with a Caperpie with Riolu stats:facepalm: I've since downloaded a mod which put all Pokemon in the game, hence why i have a real riolu now. But of course, since the moves are not yet in the game, it has tackle instead:(

EDIT: Oh and according to the wiki, Chickorita (yes i cant spell it lol) learns razor leaf at level 6, it doesn't mention vine whip though.

Don't replace the content folder. Paste the folders (Pokemon and Sounds i think its called) into the content folder

After tinkering with levels and exp in the party.dat file, I was able to re-do leveling up my Pidgeotto from 16 to 17. It successfully learned Whirlwind. So it was all a matter of whether or not the moves were implemented in the 0.23 update, as was addressed.
