PvP Multiplier and trading with others online

this is going to be coop so max of 4 players only.

we are aware that people want this feature, i don't have an ETA on them but we want stuff to do in coop. this is not going to be an mmo or a game where a ton of people connect to a public server. we will be trying to make it easy to find games and battles more toward launch. please understand that this game is a work in progress. i'd love to have pvp right now but what about abilities? they aren't fully implemented yet. also we haven't protected saves at all at this point so you can magic up any pokemon you want. i dont know if this would make for a vibrant multiplayer community.

but don't worry, we're working on it. but you're probably going to see features like the pokegear before you see fleshed out coop and pvp

Seriously? If you don't want an MMO you can create a sort of PvP join system. All people in theyr own adventures can have an encounter only by an "Arena PvP" where you can play vs other people with Pokemon at level 40-50-60 and so on, with a ranking system maybe. This will create a great comunity and will make sense to the online system. This feature, in my opinion, is necessary. Sorry for my bad english

that sort of thing is so much work, mate. you can expect to see more multiplayer stuff soon but we don't have a server that runs these kinds of services. i really really want one, so ladders etc can happen, but that's going to be a big job. nils and i will need to make our own little battle.net, basically. its not so big that it can't be done but i'm needed elsewhere and so is nils.

thats only if you don't value the changes, or don't play mods, but regardless of that, your silver or gold version cart is going to be out of juice, so good luck playing that.

If you don't want it, i don't know what are the differences beetween this and a simple game for Game Boy or DS. I'm not the one who thinks this and wants this features, so i hope you will take into account my opinion and others opinion to create something different and better than all pokemon game that we can play. If you want to proceed in this way you can close this section of the forum because is useless to ask to the comunity theyr opinion and never agreed with them. dude i spent all thread explaining why this stuff isn't done yet and that it isn't because we don't want a good battling experience. just give us time, crikey.

like, we don't have abilities for all the pokemon and people have gone 'hey my ____ has overgrow' for months, things like that are really pressing issues. i fully appreciate that lack of things to do in multiplayer is a pressing issue too. we're going to get something basic going soon so there is at least SOMETHING to do in it. but i won't be happy until this is basically wow pet battle system where i can set my party up and go 'find battle' and be in a game within 5 minutes. these things take time, they also take expertise. nils is a good programmer but he's 18 and hasn't had to make something like this before, he'd have to learn how, and that takes time he really does not have. i may be more able to get these services going but i am up to my neck in modding functionality gaps and lets face it, for a game that looks like this it runs awful right now. i'm in the middle of fixing that right now. also people using my mapping tool need more features badly.

some sort of basic battling and coop with people you're in the same game with might be possible in a few weeks. i've talked to nils about it and he agrees we should do something about it soon. he won't be at his computer this whole weekend though so its not going to be there this tuesday

just dropping in and putting in an idea (not saying you have to do this draco maybe Nillzz can do it)
When your at goldenrod a big part of the game is like done.
you did a lot of work and even more if you did play on difficulty 2!
and it will be a pain to win from whitney (basically the most annoying gym i can remember)
maybe instead of a new map (unless fans make it) make the pvp, it ALWAYS gives people something to do.
What happens is:

People will play more!
More people will join the community (maybe some that want to learn about pokeditor idk xD)
People ALWAYS have something to do and they can test their skills (btw draco hackers will always be there)(and you can choose to only play with friends)

So my suggestion is after Goldenrod pause the mapfinishing and start on the pvp?

So i just came across this thread, and I frankly am shocked to find all these beggers doing nothing but whining about how this isn't done, or that isn't done. Draco, You and Nils have done a fantastic job on this game so far. I remember playing pokemon on the ORIGINAL (fat boy) gameboy handheld system. Then after a few years they introduced Silver and Gold, and I finally upgraded to a gameboy color. I understand things take time to work out and program into the game, like the trainer who trades an Onix (Rocky) to you for a bellsprout in Violet City, in the house south west of the pokemon center.

But dang these guys just need to be patient. Everything will eventually be ready... Trading, NPC Trading, poke battles, all these things take time. I've heard about Pokemon 3D about 3 weeks ago from a kid I worked with. I finally remembered it when I got home, searched for it, and downloaded the launcher. I've been playing since .23... If you cant have the patience to wait for a game like this to be made, then you need to ask your mommy to buy you another game, so you have something to do. Quit complaining. Draco and Nils have lives, and cant work if they're having to explain things over and over about the same thing, in the same thread.
