I know it gets to me to as well sometime but that is just how it is now anything that looks remotely pixelated or has "voxels" in it is considered a minecraft clone / rip-off / engine.

People that do not have any knowledge about game engines and know the differences between genre's talk a lot of nonsense most of the time.

Heck the moment u put "crafting" as a feature in your game it instantly gets labeled as a minecraft rip-off it is ridiculous.

Edit:

On the note of voxel games here is a game i have been tracking for the past 2 years now i think.

I don't even know how minecraft plays, but I assume it's about pixels and you creating things with it. Just like splicing and such and I see nothing cool about it

it's just the lay-out of the game that has to do with it, but the game itself is not alike to minecraft at all...
and maybe a bit of the controls are the same but there aren't much controls to choose from in a pc-game ...

This is a Revamp of a Pokemon Game. its no where close to Minecraft. just because its in 3D with Pixals doesnt mean its another Minecraft. apparently Kids doesnt know what Pokemon Gold, Silver, or Crystal is.

in a personal level. i was acting the shet when i came across Poke3D. so i guess its the feeling that got people comparing. so like us old players, we would know Poke3D as a seperate game. which as for the kids, all they knew is Minecraft :'/

Minecraft and Pokemon 3D look completely different from one another. Easy to tell difference, how can any1 think there same.
For people who think pokemon 3d is a minecraft mod - GET GLASSES !!!

Heh. You guys really want to know why people keep doing that? It's because some of the textures and even the snow and rain are rendered exactly as they are in minecraft. Even the program's boot window is arguably the same exact setup.

That would be the cobblestone graphics as well as the same exact snowfall.

This is the same grass and dirt texture as is in minecraft.

As minecraft would look if you were on grass with cobblestone blocks, and underwater. Granted that's much clearer than what it currently looks like underwater, there are texture packs and such that make it look like this.

In comparison? Minecraft:

Current image of minecraft including the natural dirt texture and snow. Note the + reticule in the center is the exact same as it is in Pokemon 3d.

The same dirt and grass textures here as well.

This is an oldschool photo using the exact cobblestone texture as the first image of TestLevel as above.

Honestly, I don't know if you guys ever played Minecraft to begin with. While I don't agree that it's a ripoff of Minecraft, I will say that it's use of textures, rendering for weather, and the reticule and exact same looking base (and I'm betting movement base too if it was freeroam) would make it have used Minecraft's coding in some way, shape, or form.

The final game will not likely have as many similar textures to point it toward Minecraft, but it's not up for debate. Some things from Minecraft were used.

And to be honest, that's not a bad thing. The snow looks VERY pretty. The rain feels real, and the movement is fluid even for a four-directional plate. I also think it makes Pkmn3D that much better. But if you disagree, that's ok too. :)

Edit: Also, since I forgot to put it in, a comparison screenshot of both Minecraft and Pkmn3D

Take that as you will. I believe the image speaks for itself.

It's just hyped. That's the problem.
I won't even bother to ask either of you to give Minecraft a try. A lot of things has changed since I first started playing. (This was pre-multiplayer.. back when the website's counter said less then 80 people owned the game. I purchased it when the counter was around 400.)

The game has become mainstream. I can't dispute this as it's a fact. Many who play now are younger in age and don't understand the complexity of things you can do in Minecraft. Want an example?

The game is hyped but for a good reason. Currently a bit overhyped? Perhaps. But it wasn't always like that. I've got a friend who wouldn't touch it no matter how much I asked for the past year and a half. Now? They're asking for help and view me as a veteran of sorts. You can't judge a book by it's cover, but I digress. If you do end up giving it a try for a while, even with friends, and it still isn't your thing, that's cool.

I don't think it's right if you're just using someone else's opinion rather then your own to push down a game you haven't even tried yet. That isn't fair to you, and it isn't fair to the game either. :(

and it isn't fair to the game either.
I don't think the game cares about my opinion anyway. The fans won't disappear just because of an opinion.
I didn't mean it like that. :p

It's not about the fans. If you play a game, put several hours into it, give it your best, and you still think it sucks? Then you've got an informed and intelligent opinion on it. People may not agree, but that's what opinions are for, right?

Now, if you don't put much time into it, or simply don't touch it at all, you really can't give an honest opinion of your own about it. You can relay the opinions of others, or what you've read and heard about it, yes, but it won't be your opinion.

Putting the game down with a non-personal opinion without actually knowing what it means isn't fair. The game doesn't deserve that kind of bad publicity.

Let's just say that it isn't my kind of game. I've already looked up many videos about it at it seems like an okay game. But it's not my kind of game. You don't have to play it to actually know whether you like it or not. You can watch youtube clips for hours and then see if it catches your interest. If not, then you have your answer.

My personal experience has shown me that watching someone play and actually have played are two completely different monsters. The Touhou Project bullet hell shooters are an awesome example of this. The games seem stupidly hard and are very fun to watch, but when you actually play them? Jesus Christ, your entire perspective shatters.

If you don't wish to try it, that's fair enough. Nothing can make everyone happy. It definitely isn't the same game that I played when I first started so you won't be able to feel my experiences if you started now.... and that's actually kind of sad, because I've had a lot of fun playing it with my friends. I will say you don't know what you're missing out on, though. ;)

To be on topic, my Pkmn3D isn't snowing at the moment so I had to use images from the wiki. I couldn't find any on the forums and don't have any myself. Seasons in Pkmn3D are so picky aren't they? When you want them, you never get them. I'll throw up an image here later of the current in-game snow and/or rain if it's necessary since all of the images I've posted are photos of the maps that aren't intended to be reached during normal play. It hasn't changed though.

Could say the same about you and everyone missing out on almost everything games can come up with. But not everyone plays the same game, and thus their experiences are split. What I could say is that, a game that I simply adore and it's a game that you don't play or don't have any interest in playing it and I could say the same that you're missing out much of the potential the game has. But again, we choose different games to play. Saying "I will say you don't know what you're missing out on" is kinda rude imo, since everyone can't like the same game or even choose to play the same game.
