[Indev 0.53] Unable to Start

After I updated the game to 0.53, I loaded my game. After a few seconds, the game closed on its own. I opened the launcher again, and had to update again before playing. When I got to the open screen and hit "Load Game", it didn't do anything. I tried several more times, even closing and re-opening, and still nothing. I checked the Pokemon folder, and the only files in my Save were Keyboard and Options. Party, Player, etc. are all gone. I extracted the files, thinking maybe that's what needs to be done for new updates (I started playing this game last week, so this is my first update), but I still have everything missing from the Save folder except those two files, and the game still doesn't load.

Has anyone else experienced this issue, or know how to fix it? I really hope I didn't lose my game and have to start over. I was at the end of the last version, so I'd have to do everything all over again.

Additional information, if it's helpful:
-I was in the Battle Factory when it closed by itself. I hadn't been doing anything there before the last time I played, other than walking.
-My friend who also has the game hasn't had any issues like this after updating. It's working fine for her. She doesn't know why it's happening to me.
-This is the first (and hopefully only) time I've had this problem

What I expected to happen:
I would play the game on the updated version.

What actually happened:
Explained above.

Steps to reproduce:
I'm not sure. It's working fine for my friend, and I looked through the bug sections of this forum and no one else seems to have reported something like this. My friend and I both downloaded the update, and we both have Windows. The only difference is that hers is working and mine isn't.

Where you using an Online or an Offline save?

Where you using an Online or an Offline save?
I registered at GameJolt because the game recommended it. I'm not sure if during the time I was playing whether or not I was online, though. After I posted this, I did click the GameJolt icon to see if I was just offline and needed to log in. It said "Please wait..." and the game closed by itself. When I started again, I had to re-download the new version. The same thing happened upon trying again with GameJolt. Also, I just looked in the "Pokemon" folder and the Save folder is no longer there. I keep getting notifications about Norton blocking security risk "Pokemon.exe".

Can you attempt again, and if you fail again, copy and paste the contents of the log.dat file into this thread?

I tried again and was able to log into GameJolt. However, it still does nothing when I hit "Load Game". Where can I find the log.dat file?
If you can log into GameJolt, another option, called Play Online appears. Try using that.

I went to "Play Online" and when the server was loading it said "Cannot Find Server". When I started the file, I was at the beginning of the game at the player's house in New Bark Town.
I don't remember the screen where I was taken when clicking Play Online (where it shows your username, some kind of points, gender selection, etc.), and I don't remember seeing "Play Online" when I was playing beyond first starting the game when I downloaded. I had just always assumed that I was online because I registered and logged in the first time. This at least confirms it was an offline save.

Unfortunately, seeing as though you were as far as the Battle Frontier on your old save, I'm not sure how I can possibly recover all of that.
I guess this could be an opportunity to start your online save; it is located on a cloud, so you never have to worry about losing save data. You can also join servers, trade and battle with other players.

Oh, ok... I'll have to start from scratch and make sure I'm always online from now on, then. Thank you for all of your help.

Your save might be recoverable, but I do not have the means of doing so.
Maybe a different staff member could do this better?

>never have to worry about it
suuuure....
yea, I also highly suggest that you start playing on an online account, if anything happens to it, it would be easier for us to fix it.

So yea, it seems to me that you have playing on an offline save all along, you say the game closes, does it produce a crash log? i.e does the bug catcher popup?

Also, is it possible that you have downloaded the new version in a completely different location?
if you remember your old save's name, open "my computer" and put it in the search bar.

Probably it ends up in a folder called "Version 0.52.1". Do check out if there is such a folder near the launcher.
