Gardevoir is a beast, but the thing does not have a ton of HP. What about a Wailord? Not that I am a huge fan, but they can learn rest and have a lot of HP which makes them very difficult to kill.

I do agree that the Hoenn started it and was a catalyst for future games, but could the fans be to blame? It seems as though there has always been a demand for more legendaries and in gen IV the developers caved in hoping to sell more copies.
