Well this is official! This is a heavily viewed project and as you see it's making slight progress. As you may know, the Pokemon3D engine is being worked on to make it not only mod friendly, but also CPU friendly.​
Project Pokemon World's mission is to bring every accessible to everywhere you can imagine! Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh will give you an adventure like no other. Welcome to the World of Pokemon!​
This is going to be a very (and I mean VERY) large map. Please bear with me and I will keep anyone who is interested updated. It's time to go on a Pokemon Adventure like no other! :woot:
 
I had an idea for the problem between Johto and Hoenn. A way of doing it is to have one of the boats move between Hoenn and Johto. Or maybe add an additional destination for the Magnet train. That way you wouldn't exactly have to link them all up by routes, and wouldn't have to edit their canon locations.

Instead of having just a plain old train ride, you could have trainers to battle in the various carts, and a resting room, in which you could heal your pokemon. But uh, yeah, that's just an idea.

I like the boat idea. Not only does it seem more realistic & fit in line with the Anime but a resting room and possible trainer battles even with random created cliche like trainers ( Gentlemen bla bla, Ace Trainer X , Fishermen whatever etc. ) would be nice. Heck might even be neat ta battle characters we don't normally battle like Guide Gents, Passerby , etc. Maybe for boats add some new trainer types/name like

"You are challenged by Passenger Gabe, Tourist Link, Sailing Enthusiast Dean, Deck Hand Briggs, Crew Member Ron, First Mate Lou, Ship Navigator Trent, Lookout Mitch, Ship Engineer Garland, World Travler Jonas, etc. "

maybe cruiseliners(ie ss anne/aqua) that goes around the regions in a circle daily?
mon: slateport(lilycove?)-olivine
tues: olivine-viridian
wed: viridian-sunnyshore?(veilstone? snowpoint?)
thur: sinnoh-viridian

sat: olivine-slateport

and maybe also the magnate train from rustboro-goldenrod-saffrom-jubilife

for the orange islands there would be a ferry to the main orange island(moi) from viridian/olivine(either as another stop on the circuit or a separate ferry) and then another ferry would take you to and from any orange/sevii island
another ferry should also be in hoenn to go from slateport to lilycove and any other island
 
The orange league ferry if I remember rightly, actually leaves from Pallet Town according to the anime, and since there is a southern coast of Pallet Town, it wouldn't be that hard to extend a pier out and have the ship dock in there. maybe add a small building or a ticket booth.

The only problem I see with having the ranger regions, and some of the islands in the Orange League, is that they don't necessarily agree with catching Pokémon in balls in some places. One of the orange islands actually outlawed it because it's a nature sanctuary. Maybe it could be an island/s with no random encounters... But perhaps you could run into either Team Rocket or the Pinchers trying to steal Pokémon and you're enlisted by some rangers to help out.

or maybe they take your balls(-_-) when you enter that island so you still encounter the wild pokemon but can't catch any?

Having it be day based would be too much of a pain. Easier to have em accessible any day but after certain customized conditions are meant say earn at least 3 Badges from a connecting reason as for boats make it easier and have them set up as such ( aside from existing boats in each respective region & Version ):
Boat#1 - SS Aqua II runs between Pallet Town ( Extend the pier in the example quoted below ) , One of the Sevii Islands, One of the Orange Islands and an extended Pier in SlatePort City for Hoen ( Ruby/Emerald/Sapphire era ). These would ALL be accessible from Pallet.
Boat #2 - Sevii Ferry . Similar to in FR/LG this ferry would run to Islands that can't be reached merely by surfing
Boat #3 - SS Snow ( Name just an Idea ) Create a Pier next to the Global Terminal ( If GT is added) Or replace the GT With a Pier. This ship would run from Goldenrod Pier to SnowPoint City in Sinnoh
Boat #4 - SS Explorer ( Again just a random suggestion ) Would also Run from Goldenrod Pier to either an unused or newly added pier in Casteila City
Boat# 5 - Oran Ferry - Would run between various Orange Islands not reachable by surfing ( Sorry Lapras & Lapras Fans :p )
The rest are just suggestions if incorporating even more regions:

SS Orre - Create a Pier in Driftveil then run it to Gateon Port

SS Almia - Would Also Run from Driftveil Pier but to Haruba Village

SS Oblivia - Would Run from Unity Pier to where in Oblivia

SS XY - Also from Unity Pier to wherever fitting once X and Y versions are further revealed

Agreed but some of the areas that "don't agree with catching Pokemon" could I'm sure be modified easily enough though I do like the side quest-esque ideas of running into Team Rocket or some other evil team or the helping rangers idea. I also wouldn't mind seeing some cities from the Anime that never got any in game loving be added to a game

The issue with the Magnet Train would be a lack of ability to fight trainers & do stuff on the train plus realistically speaking a train couldn't link locations split by sea and could only go so far whereas boats could virtually sail the entire globe or "Pokemon World"

True but using Olivine and some existing ports would seem passe plus whilst I don't remember much on Olivine arent some ports already used to their limits?

the train line would able to go some distance over or under water so if we make a design assumption that the three islands are all close together(like in the last two maps) then we can just have it go over or under the water
think of the liners(ss anne/aqua) from region to region as more of a bonus area than a means of transport the main way between the regions should be fast(ie magnate train gen 2 or sevii ferry gen 3)
the islands would be accessable from either just kanto(pallete if you want) also you can expand all the docks by simply adding another boarding spot
also maybe add an airport instead of a train(to make accessing unova easier) or just have the airport in one region and you take the magnate train to that region and then the plane to unova

The fast means of transport though would be easily solved by flying after taking the boats but anyway the above was just suggestions if piers can really be extended and "boarding spots" added so easily then of course that is an open option. Having the Magnet train go all over would seem a cheap way to do it and like a lazy cop out on the developers part. Plus the Magnet train would seem too out of place in other regions and require some map altering , adding a station/Building and rails in whichever towns or places it stops plus assuming that reusing the same train animation everywhere is potentially redundant and would be odd in the case of "under the water" plus boat trips as I recall could generally be sped up or skipped over a bit simply by performing certain actions such as reting in your assigned trainer cabin if I recall :jimlad:
