Duplicate [0.45.1] Roaming Pokemon flee if asleep

I just encountered Entei on Route 45 and put him to sleep using hypnosis. Immediately afterwards, he fled. Shouldn't he not flee unless awake? I also believe that the Roaming 'mon aren't retaining damage and status effects from previous encounters.
