3D model maps for Machinima production?

Hello,
My name is Rick Jones. I work as a producer with/for machinima and independently. My team does a lot of sprite animations with 3D backgrounds. Check out our series Smash Champ if your not familiar.

Anyways, we would like to use the maps/backgrounds from pokemon3D. To do this, we can either take screenshots of the game OR (preferably) extract 3D models. Is it even possible?

The maps are put together by single entities, so one entire map isn't a single 3D model.
You can take screenshots and use them as backgrounds, if you want to.
A little help to take better screenshots:
  • Activate sandbox mode (Open \Pokemon\Saves\<yoursave>\Player.dat with Notepad and change SandboxMode|0 to SandboxMode|1) to be able to zoom out with the camera in 3rd person mode (F5).
  • Activate/Deactivate the lightning engine (F4)
  • If you take screenshots in 1st person mode, deactivate the GUI with F1

Thanks a lot for the quick response. And I really appreciate your extra tips on taking a screen shot. That was very generous of you. Thanks! Who should I credit backgrounds too in the video you think?

Also making changes to maps is rather easy if you want something different or even a completely different map(probably defeats the purpose a bit but i digress)

Yes, I did find the PokeEditor map thing. It won't open on my computer. I searched the forums and didn't see anybody with the same issue so just gave up. :)

You could just put something like "Pokémon3D" and the link to "pokemon3d.net" into the credits.

we dont use Pokeditor for making maps
we open them in notepad and edit them and then reload the maps via the sandbox mode
