Any reason why? I use my xbox 360 wired controller and it works perfectly, exactly as you described. The only issue I have is that when in battle I can't use the d-pad to select moves.

Hm, I haven't tried the d-pad with the current (re-updated) battle system, I'll have to check that out sometime. However, I use xpadder simply because that's what I'm used to using. I just find the controls to do certain things (like select a move) and map that to a few of the multitude of buttons.

Plug it in and play
it should DL the drivers automatically(Microsoft made it easy for 360 controllers to work with windows)
