Not a bug Levitate isn't working

I just started and challenged the first gym but the gym leaders pokemon keep hitting my gastly with mud slap and not only does it hit its super effective.Gastly's abillity is levitate,thi should not be happening.

Abilities haven't been implemented yet, they're just placeholders right now.

here's a tip.
don't use gastly period,
there are better pokemon (such as a geodude) that can fight the gyms pokemon.
just because a gastly can avoid ground type attacks because of levitate doesnt make it a good idea.

I meant for this gym. By all means continue to use him, just not in the first gym

Right but either way its pretty annoying knowing your pokemons abillity is useless

I understand your frustration with this. I really didn't get it at first either. But then I realized just how new this game actually is. You'll find that moves that should do something really awesome, don't do anything at all. You'll also find moves that shouldn't affect you, end up doing tons of damage. Ghastly is a great example of this...a very cool Pokemon but because this game is still in development, he loses some of his edge.

You see, I really don't complain about abilities, because there was a time where abilities didn't exist. And you know what? People did just fine.

The way I see abilities is as a handicap, it enhances pokemon but it takes away from the skill needed to battle.
Before abilities nobody in their right mind would even consider placing a gastly against a pokemon that knows ground moves. It was just plain wrong. But with abilities people think that even though gastly still doesn't have a chance, it's levitate will work miracles and somehow gastly will come out on top. That's just lazy battling.

Also nick2412 oh woe is me. I can't use sunny day. How horrible of this game and the Dev to focus more on actually developing the most important part of the game like story and maps then to focus solely on weather attacks. That's nitpicking very intensly, you've been given this amazing game and can't be satisfied? For shame.

I'm snoe and consider my jimmies rustled. And that's pretty hard to do. So feel proud.

2. Who said I wasn't satisfied by the current state of the game?
3. If I was really nit picking I would open a thread.

That's only because it's fairly small. Just wait until Pokemon 3D is complete. Then we'll get the 'true' internet experience!
