Mystery Gift

There are some items/Pokémon that people long for, but can never achieve normally. That's when Nintendo made the Mystery Gift, to give people Pokémon and items they can find no where else.

I think that a similar feature should be added to Pokémon 3D. The Mystery Gift can be an option on the main menu, and can be divided into 2 subsections:

Daily - This option is set that, every day you can receive a random item. (Similar to Pokémon Stadium 2). You would be able to choose which file to send this item. (However, it's only once per day, so choose which file wisely.)

(I can't think of a name for this) - In this option, similar to the more modern Mystery Gifts, the game connects to a certain server over the Internet where a possible item or Pokémon has been inserted by the development team. Once connected, you can be given the option of to what save file you send the gift. Perhaps said gift has a time limit of how long it is available. Players can use this method of the Mystery Gift to obtain rare Pokémon like Mew and Celebi. Maybe even allow the player a limited time onto a location they cannot otherwise get to (unless you edit player.dat directly, maybe like Lavender Town).

I'm open to questions, comments, concerns, and complains about this topic below.

I really like the idea of a "mystery gift" it would be awesome to have this feature in co-op!
Also I also like the idea of receiving special gifts from a Pokemon3D server online like the wifi gifts! ^^

This could be a possible Wi-Fi gift:

(I only assume Nilllzz's ID number is 00000.)

For some reason, this guy's HP and EXP bar kind of went into the negatives... interesting...

See, that would be so cool. I never really got the chance to do that kind of stuff, but with an entire online community, everything is possible. It would even give the chance to experience those special events, like where you get the special item to go to a certain place to catch an ultra-rare Pokemon.

That entirely defeats the "Catch them All" purpose of this game. I think the closest thing to this that should be added is item sharing in co-op.

They also have game-specific Pokemon which is stupid. The catchprase has always been "Catch 'em All" so you should be able to catch them all. Getting an overpowered Pokemon or item simply by connecting to the internet defeats the purpose of the whole game and takes the challenge out of it.

No, what I mean from it is that it's done not to GIVE the person a Pokemon, but allow they to do a special event to catch it, like the tickets in the Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald games that allowed you to go and catch legendaries. If that's how Mystery Gift is used in this game, that would be perfect, and you would be able to "Catch 'em All"

Or you could just have the ability to catch them anyway. My point is that it ruins the point of the game if you have to do a limited time event to get specific Pokemon. If you have to catch it anyway, what's the point of the mystery item? It ruins the point of the game.

This wasn't my idea, it was Nintendo's. I just thought it would make a nice edition to Pokémon 3D.

Personal opinion I guess. I think it's a great and will add some variety to the online play

I realize that, but they implemented it because there were limited Pokemon in each game. All 251 are being implemented in-game making it a pointless feature. I'm not trying to bash your idea. Just being realistic.

It won't really add any variation at all since people can just give themselves any Pokemon or item they want.

I might see your logic, but I'd still want the Daily feature, like in Pokémon Stadium 2, that gave you a random item each day. I really loved that feature.

That would be pretty cool, unless it's game breaking. It should be limited to Potions, Antiodtes, etc. Small and cheap items.

I could see this best implemented for "unlocking" areas where Pokemon that are usually rare are abundant in them, or the usual Pokemon but with Hidden Abilities, or even rare items scattered though the area. It should only be rewarding in a way that does not break the game, and everyone has their own ideas on what that is, but even though Nintendo does this does not mean we have to ;)

I think for big Mystery gifts / events, the community should be able to decide beforehand if it is too overpowered or not worth anyone's time or somewhere in between. And I definitely think some kind of Mystery gift should be implemented for P3D.

Also, I like this =)
