Yeah I think I know the one. With the pile of Bulbasaurs right? Haha yeah, that was a bit disturbing. Confusing too, because Bulbasaur was amazing in the Kanto games. Type advantage against the first 2 gyms, resistance against the next.
Here's the thing about grass type:
they are only strong against 3 types(water, rock, ground)
they do barely anything to 7 types(fire, grass, steel, dragon, poison, flying, bug)
It's that second part that really kills its effectiveness. almost HALF of all pokemon types resist grass, combine that with multityping and grass becomes quite ineffecient.
Water is similar in that it's effective agaisnt 3 types(rock, ground, fire)
BUT it isn't strong against ONLY 3 types(water, grass, dragon)
this means that 13 out of 16 types are still getting the normal damage from water attacks which makes it better for more situations
lastly fire is the beastly type
it's strong against 4 types(grass, steel, bug, ice)
and does barely anything against 4 types( fire, water, rock, dragon)
HOWEVER its true strength lies in the fact that 5 types are ineffective towards it (fire, grass, steel, ice, bug)
and is only weak to 3 types(water, ground, rock)
this makes fire a formidable opponent against a good amount of pokemon types.
review:
grass - weakest type not adaptable for many situations
water - very tanky type that can handle most types on its own
fire - strong offense, rare type, has the added bonus of burns
the only anomoly to all this. is mudkipz <3
