Playing Pokemon 3D today, I noticed that the screen is rather bare...
Usually when playing a First Person Game, you have a HUD that tells you all sorts of things going on. I know that average Pokemon games don't have anything like that, considering they aren't First Person, but is this any average Pokemon game?

I think we need something to fill up some of that open space on our screen! Perhaps Pokemon info (ie. health, status aliment), repel steps, money, quick item use (mainly when the bicycle comes out ;)), and anything else that could be thought of!

It could even be made customizable, letting you decide what you want on your screen and where you want it, also of course adding an option to completely disable it for the people who want the more classic Pokemon feel.

I like this idea. It's true that the HUD is pretty bare. I think he should try and add:

1. How many Pokemon you are carrying
2. How many badges and/or user stats
3. Status of all Pokemon in party
4. Pokemon in Pokedex found
5. Friends list (If this ever gets multiplayer)

Of course everything will be able to be customized but these are a few things that might be handy.

good idea but I would like their hp more
2. How many badges and/or user stats
I would say this is useless - it doesn't change very often...
3. Status of all Pokemon in party
combined with number 1
4. Pokemon in Pokedex found
nice idea - maybe customable to display the first seen but missing pokemon
5. Friends list (If this ever gets multiplayer)

Of course everything will be able to be customized but these are a few things that might be handy.
also good idea

Things I would add to this:
Itemfinder (I think it would be to much to add an arrow pointing in the items direction, but a number of how many items are left in this area would be nice

customable timers (for berrys etc.)
as said before: repel steps - there already is a number of this saved so it should be pretty easy to add

Customable quickspot-items (like the bike on select) or an indicator of how much units of an item you carry with you (balls/poitions)
there are so many things to add - maybe too much to let the developers choose which of them they should implement - but I think it would be great to have mods for this (and if this isn't possible at the moment it would be great to add an api for this)

Yeah, it'd be nice if this were put in but if they do decide to put this in it'll be after they finish the Gold/Silver portion. Or maybe this'll be something they are already working on.

It could be implemented soon (if the devs like the idea) as long as its not overdone. It doesn't need to be all fancy and artistic, just something simple that fits the game style and gives players the information they want. Its not the look, its how its used :)

if it would be fancy it would break the game-style - I would like simple numbers even without background (transparent) - a caption would be nice but not necessary - maybe the pokemon's icons next to their health - and customable (toggle and choice of high-wide and position) would be all I want ^^

I like this idea. It would be nice to have quick use items. I would set my bike to 1,item finder to 2, super rod to 3, super potions to 4, PP restore items to 5, Max repel to 6, and 7,8,9 would be reserve to other things.

I like it! Id like to see this put into the game

all the stuff suggested is surplus to requirements, but i'm working on custom huds. you won't be seeing a bunch of UI stuff on the screen in the base game though. there's no mouse cursor on the screen when walking around so you can't put buttons there, and what do you really need to know so desperately that it must appear on everyones screen? i can buy repel steps but those can go somewhere you can check in the menu. everything else is already accessible from the menu. pokemon isn't really an information rich game out of combat. we don't have out of combat damage from poison either so no need to watch their health in real time either.

first person games try to have as few UI elements as possible. and a lot of rpg huds are clickable and real time. i just don't see a need to 'fill the screen', however
just something i was tinkering with the other day, the crap all over the screen is loaded out of a content pack

no ETA on when UI modding will be in, but it's planned and some work has been done on it.

I agree with Hub idea and will be useful to use items with 1 to = keys. And I agree with Poketch for Pokemon Platinum too and I have idea for him: made third button with mods: Original size in left corner mode, Split/half screen mode, Full screen checker mode. I looking forward for those to I idea and consider this, because that be totally useful and people would love it.
