Camera position

Wasn't sure where to ask this, figured com. support might be best fit.

I was wondering if there was some way to back the camera up and increase view height so it feels a little closer to the gameboy versions. I've gotten the camera backed out with scroll wheel and the angle/height have me looking through trees and walls, also the nostalgia of the top down view reminds me of my childhood play through's of blue/yellow and all the others.

I don't think that you can change the angle of the camera vertically, not to mention that if you were able to and make it fully vertical, the way sprites programmed in the game would render them invisible, hence you'll end up looking at the floor of the map and the roofs of the buildings, not to mention that almost every building is 2 blocks high, therefore the ceiling would block the view while inside,

This is how it would look like at almost vertical angle (which is only possible to achieve in sandbox mode)

Normal P3D view.

what would somewhat help with the vision angle is to increase the FOV in the options.

this is at 50 FOV setting.

and this is at 90 FOV setting.

Ive got FOV at 95 with render dist to max, like the way it looks with that, i was just wondering if i could get it up high enough to see over the tops of trees. Id probably zoom in for indoors so it wasn't obstructed were it possible.

Anyway, thanks for the quick reply!

well, if you are playing with a local account, then it is possible by turning on "sandbox mode" which has more control over the camera, but if you are playing with a gamejolt account then sorry, the setting is locked to a certain value.

As it happens i am on local, please do tell about this wonderful sandbox mode :D
Go to your pokemon3D folder and find the save folder, find your save and then a file called "player.dat", open it in notepad and change the line "SandBoxMode|0" to "SandBoxMode|1" and save the file.

well, use the direction pad in combination with the control key to change the position with the camera, you will also notice that the scroll is no longer capped to a certain distant.
