Couldn't agree more.
Overhyped, boring, mainstream. Even though TF2 is free, it's your typical CoD clone, with more of a comedy twist. If you want a REAL game, or even games, get Psychonauts, Shadow of the Colossus, FF4. Need Pika suggest more?

I like all of them, but I prefer FF5 because of it's insanely awesome gameplay which is flexible, allowing you take more then one tactic to beat a hard boss. Another plus to the flexible gameplay is it's replay value.
While GMod is good, it's more of a 'Game you play when you've got nothing else to play' type of game. Plus it isn't exactly free anymore, you need the CS Source textures to basically play it, which WAS free, but now is $20 for something you'll only use for a small amount of time.

I used to play TF2 24/7 (which I personally regret since I spent like a year playing it), but now I just play it when I'm lonely and want to play a game with distant friends. Otherwise, yeah.

Well, I'm also playing DKC2 on the SNES and Pokemon Emerald(even tho I already beat it) on my GBA SP in which in that game, I'm searching for Latias and I'm figuring out the Sealed Chamber puzzle.
