The Universe Project is a game in development which intends to re-create history as a game. A parallel universe. You could play the game the way you want to. If you want to create a town & expand it, you can. You could play as a thief if you wish, or a mercenary. Be a farmer or a lumberjack. The possibilities is endless.

In a Q&A session, the creator said that the game should be playable as an Alpha/Beta test by the end of the year. It will at first be 2D graphics similar to the Diablo games, but after release they will be working on a 3D engine. You will later be able to play in either of them, which you enjoy to play the most with.

Do we even have the tech needed for it, though? You'd need a top-grade PC just to play, which'd limit the popularity sharply. This is presuming the graphics aren't 8-bit or something, of course. It'd be awesome to go raise an army of players to conquer and loot
If it mimics reality, I wonder how closely (18+ content?)...

I think it is going to look skyrim-ish or even better, but he is using 2d graphics right now though while he is developing it.

It indeed does, but IF it is ever released, it will be like 10-12 years from now on I believe, so do not expect it in a near future xD

Yeah, there is really no games like this anywhere, and I think this game suits most gameplay styles. The only thing is when or IF it is released. So far it looks good, but if they can't get any further at some point, they may scrap the project.

lol, I would want to know how the real game will look graphically like. Will it look like Skyrim, or more cartoonish like WoW.

At first I'm sure it will be very Skyrim like, I mean no one is too sure what kind of style they are going for, but I feel like if they want a parallel universe game, they may go for as realistic as they can get. However, I would rather they focus on getting game programming done rather than making it look pretty at first, so I feel like once Beta's start coming out, the graphics will be super duper ultra simple
