Solved Laptop Issue

I experienced a very bizarre issue yesterday.. I have recently purchased a new laptop and it runs a charm. I had been told about this game months ago and as a huge fan of Pokémon, I downloaded it to give it a try.
When I downloaded it, I was asked to download the latest version, so I did. I did not get a chance to play it at that time, so I put the laptop on sleep. When I loaded the game back up, it asked to download the latest version again, which confused me, but to play the game, I had to re-download it.
I played the game for about 30 minutes, it was enjoyable.
UNTIL THIS HAPPENED.
I later went on my laptop to sort through a few files and documents, and clicked into my file explorer. This PC(I use Windows 8.1, so no My Computer) read "This folder is empty." No C drive, no data drive no folder library containing pictures, videos, etc. The loading bar filled up(taking approx 10-15 minutes), yet when it was full, none of my files, docs or folders were showing.
It probably seems odd that Pokémon3d would be the cause, but honestly, I managed to delete all the Pokémon3d files and this problem I had is gone.
Has anyone else had this problem? And if so/not, does anyone know how I can prevent this from happening? I really enjoyed the game, and would like to play it fully through without any hindrance caused to my PC's performance.

I can assure you that you are the only one who has that issue with P3D (assuming that P3D is the cause, which I can't see how would that be the case)

Just wondering, if P3D made all your files disappear, how were you able to delete P3D's files?

I had fortunately put Pokemon 3d in a folder on my desktop, so that made it easy.
I could access my files, it's only when I attempted to open file explorer directly from my taskbar...I don't believe it was P3D either, I was just confirming no-one else had this problem. Thanks for the reply

Turns out the problem is definitely unrelated to the game. Still trying to figure out exactly what it is, but I have a feeling it was another download I had on :/

Maybe something like Windows Update or Windows Recovery (or another program) was running and occupied the hard drive, leaving Windows Explorer no read time on your file system.
This might happen when the data streams on your hard drive are a performance bottleneck.
Pokémon3D itself is of course writing and reading data on the hard drive as well, but it's rather insignificant compared to what your hard drive is capable of.
