New Game Plus?

I was just thinking about this today.

I know that some of the charm of the Pokemon games is that after you finish all the content you could still go out and catch them all and train them all and all these other things. Also, the original cartridges only had one save file, which didn't really make starting a new game an option. (I suppose buying the other version was Nintendo's way of making money on this urge to start a new game).

But how about an option for a New Game +? I know this won't even be considered until a bulk of the game is done, but I just wanted to put it out there. It's cool in like Final Fantasy where you can start over with like stats or spells or weapons from your previous game. How about for this one we keep the Pokemon we have, or Items, or Pokedex, or something like that onto the new file. I dunno. Might not be a good idea. Thoughts?

cool idea, not sure how well it would fit in the game, but very interesting.

im working on a mod system atm, modding works already but there isnt a system for loading them so they exist as patches. the mods will have their own saves, and i was thinking about how people might want to take their pokemon from the unmodded game into these mods. i think we could have a kind of newgame+ system where you can copy a save from the default game type's pokemon data to the new save for a mod you want to newgame+ into, and it would let you gain access to your old pokemon at some point if the mod supports it. you wouldn't be able to bring a party from a mod into the official game

this way you can newgame+ into a mod thats just the base game with the trainers and wild pokemon set to be level 90-100 and you got pokemon 3d Hell Mode ;) such a mod would be very simple to do, it would need to replace the poke files that say what wild pokemon are in a map, and the trainer files that define trainer battles. those are all text files and this job would be a few changes to numbers. lol maybe i'll make it

oh, and if that mod didn't edit pokemon data (it wouldnt need to) it will be compatible with cooping with characters in the main game
