Solved How do I surf

I have a gyrados and I taught it surf and strength. I go out by the water and hit enter like you do on bushes to ask if you want to surf and that doesn't work. So I tried going into the menu pokemon and selecting surf via gyradoes but there is no option to surf listed.....

Is there a way to surf? I really can't get the medicine for ampharos unless I can surf....

Is that the town with the red gyrados in it? If so then no, i was headed straight for the sick ampharos from the town you catch Ho oH and encounter suicune, entei, and raikou for the first time...

I just realized theres a gym in the town with Ho Oh that I never visited, that may be the cause...

Gyms: 1 - Violet, 2 - Azalea, 3 - Goldenrod, 4 - Ecruteak, 5 - Cianwood, 6 - Olivine, 7 - Mahogany, 8 - Blackthorn.
