Not a bug Ilex-goldenrod door locked?

Ive played pokemon before, and never before has the door in ilex forest that will take you through to goldenrod city has it been locked. Maybe it is a glitch?

And another thing, if a newer version of the client is available to download, if i re-download it, will i still be able to keep my current progress? And maybe it will unlock the door?

what do i do to open this door if that isnt the problem? I have the azalea gym badge, beat my rival, etc.

Correct there is no content past Ilex forest yet.

You will keep your progress when a new client version is available it does not overwrite the save folder or anything like that.

is there a thread on the forums that tracks the current progress of completion of goldenrod and beyond yet? I can imagine this to be a time consuming task, the graphics and all that are very advanced and quite impressive.
