Same methods; Online can trade with Online and Offline can trade with Offline, but they cannot mix trade.
Correct.
This only applies to trades though, battling works just fine.
So if an Online battler encounters someone with a Mew or something, that could very well just be someone using an Offline account?
If that server allows offline saves as well, yeah.
But it's pretty obvious because they most likely have one of the default offline sprites, or changed it to one of the NPC sprites.

Use the Global Trade Station (you get the card for it in Ecruteak City).

Press Q to open it => PSS => press left or right.

I think you don't get the GTS in offline mode, Only direct trading works.
