I may get to GoldenRod City tonight, otherwise, I will retrieve Elekid tomorrow.

You have to at least talk to Bill in Ecruteak City's Pokemon Center for him to fix the Friend trading system (the green warp panel in Goldenrod City's Pokemon Center) to trade with other players through Gamejolt. (unless you're using the GTS)
