Not a bug Gym Leader Glitch

First off, Im sorry for not knowing the gym leader's name or which town he is located, but he has ghost pokemon which includes gastly and haunter.
When I went into the gym the floor where all the trainers are is black instead of brown like the rest of the floor. I approached the first trainer and battled him and won. Then I approached the 2nd trainer and it brought me back to the door of the gym, and wouldn't let me battle him/her. I tried walking straight up to the gym leader and instead of the the trainers trying to battle me the game glitched and I was back at beginning of gym. I have tried getting off game and getting back on, updating game, and even talking to everyone in town.

Its not a glitch you need to find the correct path . Watch the Lets Plays's if you dont want to experiment .

Well firstly, his name is Morty. We have him on the forum.
Secondly, the black section on the floor isn't a glitch, it's a puzzle, you need to navigate through the maze. If you stand on the wrong space, it will send you back, but if you look at the trainers, they will give you a rough idea on where the safe footing is. The safe path should make a square zig zag pattern, you do need to battle every trainer tho.

its an actual crash that happens when i go in the grass or water I am actually trying to figure it out right now.

Well, I am a bit rusty on reading crash reports, but would you be able to post your latest one, and give a very detailed description on what happens and what you do?

Ohok, well, I have been away for a while, and my report reading skills are a bit rusty. So I may get it wrong.
