Not a bug no autosave in online mode?

One of my favorite things about this game was the autosave feature.

However, my game recently crashed and when I loaded my file I was 1 hour back. During this hour, I had fought all the trainers in routes 38 and 39, and used the itemfinder to get all items between olivine city and ecruteak city.

Obviously, I had loaded many different maps and gone to multiple pokemon centers.

Why doesnt online mode get autosaves?

no there's no autosave feature for online saves because of stuff. It's hard to explain and I think I don't want to reveal the technical details.
But there's an annotation on the pause screen that says "cannot create autosave" so you know that it's not going to work.
