I've created this thread in order to encompass any misunderstandings with the availability of items, and what Pokemon will be seen in the wild.

For those who have played Gold and Silver for GameBoy Color, this will be a refresher, and for those of you that don't know what a GameBoy is, this will be a learning experience.

Pokemon 3D incorporates a 3D version of the old game Pokemon Gold and Silver. The world our characters are set in is Johto (and later Kanto). On top of that there are some key updates to the original game that are here in Pokemon 3D.

- All 42+ berries are implemented (as opposed to the original 10)
- Abilities, EV's, and pokemon natures are implemented (as opposed to just straight up stats)
- Unlike the recent pokemon games, there are NO seasons (only a day and night cycle, with rain)
- The pokemon that appear in the wild consist MAINLY of Generation I and II NOT Generation III-V
- Apricorns (which are Gold Silver specific) can be made into pokeballs.

Given this information, players must understand these situations:
- Most of the pokemon you encounter will be within the First 251 pokemon in the pokedex, this means.

THE ORIGINAL BABY POKEMON ARE
- togepi
- pichu
- igglybuff
- cleffa
- magby
- smoochum
- tyrogue
- elekid

THE ORIGINAL EEVEE EVOLUTIONS ARE
- espeon
- umbreon
- flareon
- vaporeon
- jolteon

THE "NEW" EVOLUTIONS(INCLUDING TRADE) ARE
- scizor
- steelix
- kingdra
- slowking
- hitmontop
- porygon2
- politoed
- bellossom
- crobat

THE LEGENDARIES ARE
- ho-oh
- lugia
- celebi
- entei
- suicune
- raikou

THE STARTERS ARE
- totodile
- cyndaquil
- chikorita

THE 'NEWEST' STONE IS
- sunstone (used by sunkern and to evolve a gloom into bellossom)

THE 'NEWEST' POKEMON TYPE
- steel
- dark

ORIGINAL HM's (IN NUMERICAL ORDER)
-cut
-fly
-surf
-strength
-flash
-whirlpool
-water fall

Make note that these pokemon exist NATURALLY within this games frame and do not need to brought in through data file manipulation.

Now the plot (in a non-spoiler form)
Characters:
you
red-headed rival
Prof. Elm
Prof. Oak
Team Rocket (enemies)

The available maps are
- Johto
- Kanto (Gold and silver era, not red and blue era)

This is the ORIGINAL Gold and Silver, not Heart Gold and Soul Silver.
There may be features implemented later that bring in some new aspects of the game
introduced in HG and SS. But this is the Main Framework of Pokemon 3D at this moment.

I'm not saying that:
Pokemon gen 3-5 will not ever make an appearance
It's impossible to breed baby pokemon from later generations
You can't haz mudkipz.

What I am saying is to understand this world your playing in isn't Pokemon Black and White
so educate yourselves with the Gold and Silver mechanics and i guaruntee there will be less
confusion

All comments and responses welcome

mechanically this is going to be closer to gen 5 than gen 2, the gen 4 gen 2 remakes make it very easy to fit gen 3 and 4 into johto. i dont know where we'll put gen 5 pokemon but they will be spawnable at some point.

story mode is sort of a mix of g/s/c and hg/ss, g/s/c map layouts and textures are used but sometimes a hint of hg/ss gets thrown in.

also, steel and dark were both added in gen 2, the types only changed from gen 1 to gen 2

the main question now is which HM's will be implemented. because gen 2 originally did not have rock smash as an hm
but the remake does.

however nils feels like when he gets around to that. we aren't strictly following any gen for that sort of thing. we're just going to have everything we can reasonably cram into it. because it is 1 'version' and we don't have to worry about fitting everything onto a cartridge/sd card we have some room to move

That's true, this is a game with no limits, so any and all the HM's could be implemented.

The issue with this would be where to acquire these HM's. for example where would one find defog in Johto if the HG and SS version didn't incorporate fog into its map.

I assume if there are plans for expansions to other continents, then the HM's needed would be found there respectively.

otherwise create new areas within the current map entirely.

i'm unsure what our plans are for all continents but we plan on letting mods that don't edit really vital data like pokemon species work in coop with the main game so you can visit a hoenn, sinnoh, unova mod or something and trade with players from them. if we don't unify all regions ourselves the modders are very interested in remaking the gen 3, 4 and 5 regions in p3d and joining them all together

islands seems like something that could be added by the Dev team,

islands:
are small and dont require heavy programming for
can be created in any way without being non canon
would take the same time to create as a town on the original map

a ferry system would allow a one-fits-all method to access any and all islands
so no requirement to add new stuff to the original map, just add it to the list of the ferry.
