Seriously Unserious
Starting Trainer
I found a very awkward mechanic in trainer battles, which, in the late game could become gamebreaking.
While battling an early trainer who had 2 pokemon, I KOed his first pokemon, but was not even given the option to swap out between rounds like in normal games. I was forced to waste a move to do the swap out, which lead to one of my own pokemon getting KOed, and then the pokemon I'd just swapped out got autochosen to be added back into the battle. The reason I'd swapped that one out is because it's HP was getting low and I wanted to prevent it from getting KOed, but this autoswitch caused it to get KOed anyways. Whenever anyone's pokemon get's KOed, I should have the option to choose who goes into the battle next, and not have a bad choice shoved down my throat.
I can see this mechanic leading to suicide match-ups, especially later in the game when the battles tend to get more challenging and strategy becomes more essential to winning. This mechanic basically makes strategy impossible.
